Kent Tahsequah April 2014

My name is Kent Loran Tahsequah. I was born and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. As a child, I always knew that I could draw, but never really paid much attention to that part of my talent. In junior high, I took two art classes for which my art teacher, Misses Carter, informed me that if I were to take art classes in high school that she would recommend me for a scholarship. I took a course of art, but didn’t like the teacher, and so I switched to drama. It was then that I discovered ballet. I danced ballet for 6 years until an accident which ended my dance career. After high school, I just did my own thing. It wasn’t until 2008, when I had a mild stroke, that I picked up a pen and used ink to create my first art piece. I got my first show three months after the stroke, and I’ve been doing great since. My medium that I love to use is pen and ink. Though, I also work in acrylics. My theme in all of my art is gay-oriented, well, because I’m gay. I do art for love, because art is my passion.
